Shocking, beautiful and tragic. It opens with one of the most startling and unsettling scenes I have ever seen. From there everything is shaped by that one moment in time as innocence is lost and the road towards celebrity is paved.
The performances are incredible and the narrative hard-hitting and all consuming. It's a metaphor for the American experience nowadays, and it works on every level.
