Review of Viridiana (1962) by Lauren T — 26 Sep 2007
The movie where Bunuel first perfected his mature style. When it's over, and you reflect on how deliberate Bunuel's pacing is and yet how much has transpired--it really has two entirely different plots grafted onto each other--you can't believe it's only an hour and a half long.
Bunuel has somehow so completely pared away everything extraneous that he can afford to be leisurely with what's left.
