Review of Van Diemen's Land (2009) by Matthew S — 13 Jun 2010
Very slow and so naturalistic that it is almost devoid of the normal structure and nauances that you expect from a film. But that is exactly what makes this directoral debut so amazing to watch. The cast are really stretched to their limits in this uncompromising adaptation of a true story.
Hard viewing, but well worth it - and one that I think will improve when seen again. Superb!
