Review of Valley Girl (1983) by Jess M — 23 Jan 2008
When we had to introduce ourselves in front of our first tech class at Tisch (film school) I stood up and pronounced this as my favorite movie. It was hard to find crew mates when minutes later we had to make groups.
But it still is - it's a polaroid of the glut of new rich in Silicon Valley at at time when rubbing elbows with hippies and runaways was actually common. Cage is the only way I want to see him - hair dyed, irreverant, naive and young. And "that chick Julie", well,l shes' truly dazzling. But she's not one of ours.
