Review of Ultramarines: A Warhammer 40,000 Movie (2010) by Jonathan T — 04 Jan 2011
Definitely a film for the fans of the games rather than the casual viewer. The CGI may be very shaky, the characters may be basic generic action heros, and Sean Pertwee stands out like a friendly tyranid handing out chocolate to a leman russ crew but the movie captured the atmosphere perfectly and the action is worth the wait.
While I usually don't like big Hollywood sci-fi films, a bigger budget could have sorted the CGI out. It's surprising that there hasn't been any more movies about the Warhammer 40000 universe as there is huge scope for potential for a franchise that will rival Star Wars and Alien (and will probably look like a cross between the two).
