Review of Two Thousand Maniacs! (1964) by Stephanie F — 05 Apr 2006
[font='Times New Roman'][size=4][color=#000000]I have to say, although it?s not the greatest horror movie in the world, for the mid-1960s this one has some pretty shocking scenes in it. I believe that?s why it has received the ?cult movie? status that it has.
The pieces of the movie, by that I mean the plot, the effects, the acting, and the music score, are all average and when put together form a fairly average film. The young ?yankee? couples being killed off by a town full of southern stereotypes really isn?t that big deal of a storyline.
The gore effects are by no means cutting edge for a movie of the mid 60s but their placement and how they ar filmed can be quite shocking. I wouldn?t really label this one a genre classic, but it is worth a viewing if you?re a horror fan.
