Review of Turn the River (2008) by Private U — 18 Jul 2008
The appeal of this movie is completely understated. It's brilliantly acted all the way around, with major kudos obviously going to Janssen, but Eigeman's writing and directing hits a natural and un-melodramatic tone that is so realistic that sometimes it feels like one is truly watching a domestic spat rather than a film.
Unfortunately, the melodrama creeps up in the final act, to the film's ultimate detriment. However, as a star vehicle for Janssen and Eigeman--both painfully underappreciated--it will hopefully get some attention out there.
