I think I'm getting too old or too cynical for this kind of stories but the first one in itself seemed too cute, too corny and too sweetened and to be honest this story walks in the same way all the same directions, so forget any kind of novelty, even though is fair to admit that that is a problem that mostly all sequels have, but you also have to know that with this tone and in this genre, those cutesy elements only work the first time.

I have no idea what the third film will bring to the table but I'm pretty sure all the fans will enjoy it the same way they'll enjoy this one.

And hey, we're all fans of something no matter what other people say.
