Review of Time Out of Mind (2015) by L H — 03 Oct 2015
I hated the first hour of this film. If you watch it, be patient. This film has a progressive impact on you and invokes a sense of the pain felt by the homeless. Without being tethered to our societal and civic processes, people simply disappear--lost in the vastness of disorientation.
They become no person in no place. If you have a life, watch this film. It prompted me--a person who has nothing in the world to complain about--to volunteer at a shelter for young people. This film fills us with the sense that we are all one, that the least of interactions with each other can shape someone's future.
It took real courage for a superstar like Richard Gere to make this film and I commend him for taking the risk.
