Review of This Film Is Not Yet Rated (2006) by Kit G — 08 Nov 2008
An amazing piece of filmmaking. Shows what you can do with a camera and research skills and its extremely inspiring in that regard. At times its a little unfocused, as a film nut I was more interested in what the filmmakers and artists had to say then the private eye stuff but the last twenty minutes of this movie are just so phenomenal, as Kirby Dick (who I believe included scenes of graphic sexuality knowing it would get an NC-17 rating) shows exactly what the appeals process is like.
Raises many interesting points and pissed me off to no end. Censorship is alive and well in America and you can look to the MPAA for proof of that. When I found out clergy were on the appeals board and casted a vote it was all over.
This movie should be viewed by anybody who loves film as an art form and wants to know the real story behind studio politics and the danger of having one completely secret and unaccountable objective surveyor of morality running the show.
