Review of The Wicker Man (1973) by Mark P — 19 Jul 2009
British quirky horror at its best. Masters of cult horror Robin Hardy and Christopher Lee re-unite to tell this twisting tale of deception, pagan rituals and sacrifice... with a few naked girls jumping over a fire for good measure.
Despite it's low budget appearance and at times laughable moments the ingenious story telling and impeccable acting performances from Edward Woodward and Christopher Lee carry this film and elevate it from laughable low budget horror to an international cult classic.
Best bits-.
-Brit Ekland trying to seduce sergeant Howie.
-The maypole dance (classic).
-The Landlords daughter.
- Howie being told God blew it.
-The soundtrack (particularly Corn Riggs and barley).
