Probably one of the best coming-of-age tales I have ever seen, "The Spectacular Now" proves that good romantic tales are still out there, and that each and every genre can truly have their gems.
Showing that Miles Teller has major acting capabilities, his chemistry with Shailene Woodley is something that is in desperate need of attention. Why this film is getting nothing from any awards shows this year is beyond my comprehension.
The screenplay is perfect, the acting is great all around, and you will not see truer emotion in any film this year. Coming out of nowhere, things happen in this film that will leave you breathless. The direction is superb and the camerawork really accents the characters in the film.
It is still when it needs to be and shaky when characters seem unsure. I loved every second of this picture. "The Spectacular Now" is easily one of the best of 2013.
