Review of The Sons of Katie Elder (1965) by Timothy C — 22 Apr 2017
Four brothers return to their home town for their mother's funeral. The sherriff and townfolk aren't welcoming and it becomes plain there has been some recent skullduggery. The first half of the film is asorbing as oldest brother John (John Wayne) digs into the mystery surrounding their father's death and the family's lost ranch.
The second sort of drifts toward the fairly weak ending. The presence of Wayne and Dean Martin are really the only difference between this and any number of run of the mill westerns.
