Review of The Seventh Victim (1943) by Alex B — 07 Oct 2007
The similarities between "Victim" and "Rosemary's Baby" are uncanny, and you can tall that "Victim" was a major influence on Polanski's film. While both are quite drab, "Victim" does not even begin to hint at the possibility of redemption in terms of its characters or narrative.
It is jarring because it differs so much from classical narrative. With great production values for a B movie and refusal to spin positive on the scenario, "Victim" is a gem.
