Review of The Safety of Objects (2002) by Christopher M — 10 Jun 2007
The Safety of Objects was crafted from a bunch of short stories written by A.M. Holmes. Separately, the stories are shaped as character driven vignettes that are intent on nailing the odd details surrounding various people.
However, the film centers on four families all living on the same suburban block. You could probably cut out two of four of these families and have a story that's more focused, but I like it all the same.
You might describe it as a broader view of suburbia than American Beauty, though certainly not intent on bashing the qualities of living there.
