Review of The Rocky Horror Picture Show: Let's Do the Time Warp Again (2016) by Jacqueline M — 25 Apr 2017
Was it as good as the original? No. Did I expect it to be? No. I wish they did it live like they originally planned, and they didn't have the theater cut-aways. It felt too jumbled going back and forth between three perspectives, instead of a balanced two.
No complaints about the cast, and Cox was great. Who cares she isn't a man? The audience isn't supposed to know how transitioned she is. That change makes it it an easier not to constantly compare the character to Tim Curry.
She was very charming, and the main redeeming factor. But without the camp and dark muted tone, it looks like a High school Musical performance. Needed more grit and rough edges to match the eccentric and sexually charged plot.
