Review of The Rebel (1961) by Christopher H — 26 Jul 2007
This is quintessential British comedy - up there with Sellers' I'm All Right Jack - and demonstrates just why Tony Hancock is a total legend; he's superb throughout this film, and it's tragic that he didn't stick around and make more films than he did.
George Sanders is the big 'star name' in the film, but the rest of the supporting cast (the incomparable Irene Handl plays Mrs Cravat, his landlady; John Le Mesurier plays his boss) is fantastic. Paul Massie took the title role(s) in Hammer's Two Faces Of Dr Jekyll.
