Review of The Place Promised in Our Early Days (2004) by Enrique V — 04 Dec 2007
This is a really hard movie to review. on one hand, I want to give this a high score since it's easily one of the most visually vibrant movies i've ever seen; the amount of detail in every scene is unbelievable.
on the other, the pacing really needs work. the first act is great and sets up the story well, but the second takes what the first did and throws it all away. you're placed in this unfamiliar environment with little knowledge of whats going on; even worse, most of the time is spent on overly sentimental dialogue that drags on and on.
however, the third act makes up for it, with an ending thats likely to make you people cry. not me though, since I have no feelings.
