Review of The New Daughter (2009) by Leanne K — 21 Oct 2010
Well, well, well. What a nice and surprisingly unexpected film. The first movie in forever to give me a nightmare. The creatures toward the end were well thought out and incredibly effective, with lighting being used very sparingly to give them the enigmatic feeling.
The young girl from Pan's labyrinth was phenominal as well, and the ending gives you a few goosebumps. All in all you can not ask for more in a horror film. Scares, surprises, and the right balance of light and dark.
Perfection.
