Review of The Mothman Prophecies (2002) by Roarke M — 20 Apr 2015
The Mothman Prophecies will irritate a lot of people because it leaves A TON of unanswered questions. I like that it does that. Who is the Mothman? Is he the Devil? God? I was fascinated by its depiction of a supreme being, capable of playing God and causing everything to happen for a reason.
I also think The Mothman Prophecies is the scariest movie ever made. There. I said it! Yes. I can't watch this alone. I can't watch it at night. Mark Pellington, a very underrated director, creates an atmosphere so bone-chilling it's unlike any other horror movie I've seen.
The darkness. The music. The mood. Just thinking about the cinematography gives me the chills.
