Review of The Lighthorsemen (1987) by Robert L — 05 Jul 2007
My favourite Aussie film! I adored watching this as a kid and I still love it now. Great characters. Masterful dierction. Smart scripting that never glorifies what happened. Superb cameo from Anthony Andrews.
Peter Pheleps is young & surprisingly good. Most important of all, this is one of your only chances to witness the lost talent that was Jon Blake...a young actor with boundless talent, energy, charm and skill.
..he was in a car accident shortly after filming where he became a living vegetable...a tragedy. This film is an astonishing tribute to his talent and the legacy of the ANZACs.
