Review of The Last House on the Left (2009) by Ricardo A — 25 Sep 2011
This is one of those extremely rare "remakes that far surpass their crappy original" films. I was always impressed by the clever concept--can you imagine what your parents would do if your rapists and would-be killers unknowingly stumbled onto their doorstep with car troubles? Can you imagine the absolute chaos that would ensue? Exactly.
And when the chaos ensues, it is done with far more realism and aggression than the comparatively boring original (let's just say there are some pretty creative ideas using common household appliances in here). The viewer will be repulsed and revenge-hungry, which leads to satisfaction as the film nears it's fist-pumping conclusion.
