Review of The Kindergarten Teacher (2018) by Cory H — 22 Oct 2018
Reviewed 10.21.18 For such a simple concept, it packs an emotional punch. Maggie Gyllenhaal is perfectly cast as a teacher who attempts to right the wrongs of her life, by trying to make sure her student's gift isn't laid to waste.
It leaves you wondering what's more disturbing...no one caring at all, or someone caring too much? It's a condemnation of society's ignorance towards art, and by extent, creative people. We all lose when artists aren't nurtured, or even recognized.
For anyone with a talent that was never validated, the young boy's words will haunt you: 'I have a poem.'.
