Review of The House of the Devil (2009) by Michael R — 19 May 2012
One of the scariest movies I've ever seen. And by scariest, I don't necessarily mean bloodiest or most violent. It's scary in the way The Exorcist or Rosemary's Baby are scary. A simple tale told with horrifying music that punctuates moments of suspense, clever camera angles, perfectly creepy lughting, a main character you care about and silently polite and creepy Satanists.
Its on-purpose retro feel gave it a more grainy look witout seeming too obvious and cheap. Overall a great modern horror classic.
