Review of The Hawk Is Dying (2007) by Brian W — 18 Jan 2008
At first, it seems like another Sundance-lite indie about a lonely schlub with an eccentric habit and a cute young lady for a friend. However, the film takes a turn with a tragic event and it becomes really compelling.
Paul Giamatti gives a spellbinding performance. Combine one of the saddest faces in the business with his ease acting alongside a flighty bird of prey, and you have something affecting and powerful.
