Review of The Fountain (2006) by Cody B — 06 Mar 2012
This film spoke to me; as a fledgling screenwright, I have had ideas like this myself. The idea of a man seeking the ultimate cure for the ultimate disease is very enthralling. I'm just sorry I didn't come up with it first! In all honesty, I felt that Hugh Jackman's performance was phenomenal; it had a depth of inner torment that I can honestly say I've never seen in a modern actor.
Not since the likes of Orson Welles and Marlon Brando has such a performance moved me. Rachel Weisz is also incredible as the object of the quest to find eternal life. If your mind and heart are open to the possibilities that await you in the hereafter, then see this film.
