One of my favourite movies. polanski took the skeleton of an eastern european christmas fairy-tale in a jewish shtetl , introduced slightly out of tune characters on a quest, and than brought in big bad aristocratic vampires.
the extraordinary thing is that the movie still manages to appear understated :).
