Review of The Danish Girl (2015) by Lisa E — 14 Jan 2016
Although an excellent film with great actors, I was not prepared for all of the tragedy it offers. I won't take stars off for that, but would have liked the trailer to be more honest about what's in this movie as far as difficult, sad and painful.
Though powerful as a film, if I had known more about the emotional content, I probably would have passed. There are 2 scenes I could have lived without seeing and would have preferred to.
I guess the biggest criticism I can offer here is that the trailer did not really represent the movie accurately. False advertising on some level just to get you into the theatre? Perhaps... Still a very good film that holds together well from start to end. What is important to note is that this is based on a true story.
