Review of The Curse of the Cat People (1944) by Val M — 25 Jun 2008
Leave it to Val Lewton to produce a movie called "The Curse of the Cat People"--a sequel to practically the greatest psychological horror film ever made, and certainly one of the most adult made under the Hayes code--and have it be one of the loveliest, sweetest, most poetic, and most touchingly beautiful children's films ever made (and, incidentally, one without any reference to curses or cat people or anything).
One of the great child performances of all time, and a perfect, transcendent piece of filmmaking on every level.
