Review of The Curse of the Cat People (1944) by M D — 10 May 2009
This immediate follow-up to the successful Cat People feels more polished under the partial direction of Wise who would later go on to create some very successful and immortal works. The child has always seemed to trump adults in being creepy in the right roles and Amy thoroughly fits the socially distanced and weird little child.
While this film strays from much inclusion of the cat people as cats it is still entertaining and a more readily available to the viewer than its predecessor. Some great performances even if a bit outdated and apparent attention to lighting that made the first work so well are found here too.
