Review of The Commuter (2018) by L W — 13 Jan 2018
Great movie! The best of the Collet-serra Liam movies. Great mix of action, mystery and suspense in the spirit of classic Hitchcock. Loved the opening montage capturing the routine of the commute. That was inventive.
. Liam is incredibly likeable as an every man who is a victim of our economics times. Ultimately it is a morality tale about a working class man who has to not fall prey to the corruption of our time.
This elevates over the usual action/thriller movies. The story very much a "movie" premise, managed to turn the ordinary mundane into the extraordinary. That all said there are some incredible action moments like the one shot fight scene.
The train wreck is a bit over the top CGI but still fun to see on a big screen. Great inversion on Spartacus in the ending... "F@#$ you, Goldman Sachs!".
