Review of The Class (2007) by Mircea A — 29 Mar 2009
Amazingly real- from the honesty of the performances to the genuineness of each scene to the faux-documentary style. At no point did I feel like I was watching a piece of fiction, with actors performing scenes, and that's incredibly rare.
All the complexity of the educational system, the disconnect between students & teachers, younger & older generations, the poor and the priviledged, etc, is brought to the film. Moreover we see the struggle of the students to succeed (or simply commit to their education) and the struggle of their teacher to reach them (or simply to care enough to push through all the obstacles).
Engaging & great film.
