Review of The City of Your Final Destination (2009) by Michael A — 05 May 2011
Laura Linney stands out as quite the bitch in this Merchant Ivory production where grief, jealousy and bitterness form a potently dysfunctional relationship in sleepy Uruguay. Hopkins does his usual best, this time around as an opportunistic, aging gay man, seemingly the eye of the dysfunctional storm around Ocho Rios, the estate they all call home.
While somewhat quiet, the film captivated me from the start with its thoughtfully assembled cast, who played off each other comfortably.
