Review of The Broadway Melody (1929) by Ross B — 28 Jul 2007
One of the first real musicals, released right around the time sound was becoming commonplace in films. It's pretty good considering this is one of the first musicals and the second winner ever of the Best Picture Academy Award, but still even for then, the script is still somewhat dull and kind of unusual.
An interesting watch for anyone interested in the birth of musicals, but pretty bland for anyone else.
