Review of The Black Cat (1941) by Nate T — 21 Dec 2016
An interesting in-title-only remake of the same titled 1934 film. The 1934 film itself had little to do with the actual Poe tale. This film is the same in that regard. Take Lugosi and age him to the way he looked in 1941 and add Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce and make this more of a thriller - mystery, you pretty much know what will happen.
But the cast is so much fun to watch that one may not care if they see the ending coming from early in the film. Should be on Blu-Ray as should the 1934 Karloff - Lugosi horror film.
