Review of The Big Sick (2017) by Soumya R — 10 Jul 2017
One of the best romantic comedies in history. There were some classic comedic lines ("9/11 was a tragedy, we lost 19 of our best men", yes Kumail went there, and I cracked up), but this movie also has a lot of heart, and most of all, it was so real, and is a great intro to the immigrant experience for the general public.
If you want to get away from the news and hate, this is the movie to see, because as Kumail said on the Daily Show last night, "the only political statement this movie makes is that Muslims are human beings".
