Review of The Big Red One (1980) by Wicasta L — 17 Mar 2009
One of the few truly unpredictable war movies. It is not quite a boy's own adventure, not quite a pathetic tragedy about the futility of war, nor quite a patriotic spectacle. It is an absurd, almost surreal story of a team of men fighting their way through World War II.
The key issues revolve around religion, sex and death. This is truly something to be studied.
