Review of The 39 Steps (2008) by Jason J — 31 Jul 2009
An enjoyable adventure of a man mistaken as a spy who has to go on the run. It's nowhere near as good as the 30's and 70's version. Why omit some of the things like the hanging from Big Ben sequence for instance.
Rupert Henry-Jones does his best as Hannay but he's not as charismatic as Robert Powell. The cinematography showing the breathtaking Scottish Highlands is fantastic and the action when it happens is fairly exciting.
On reflection though, this version of The 39 Steps is thrilling but entirely forgettable. There are better versions of the story available.
