Review of Tampopo (1985) by Bradley T — 22 Aug 2007
Close to perfect. Food, sex, food, death, food and social commentary in a comedy western docudrama. The vignettes enhance the story and don't distract. The dying woman cooking a meal for her family is so funny and sad at the same time.
If you ever thought the Japanese aren't emotional or passionate, see this film. The creation of Iron Chef makes more sense when you see this film.
