A convoluted mess of a movie, Synecdoche, New York nevertheless gets to the deepest emotions and experiences of humanity. Ultimately, it defines us all as definitions of each other and that no matter how hard you try to move backwards, you'll always be moving forward, forward towards the neutering reality of death and it's incumbent finality.
