Review of Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance (2002) by Ville H — 26 Jun 2010
Park Chan-Wook never ceases to surprise. He directs the fist three quarters of the Mr. Vengeance surprisingly quietly only to explode into gruesome violence. But, while it may be gruesome, the violence in his movies is never without a great amount of emotion behind it.
The way the story unfolds is shocking, and the cinematography captures it all brilliantly. Nearly every shot had me thinking, "Wow, what a great shot." Add in a great performance from Song Kang-Ho and you have yourself a masterpiece.
