Fantastic. I had a plan to teach a jazz course last year and I'm glad I didn't because this film needed to be in it. Do you want to know WHY we need jazz in the school curriculum? Because it's got it, it's got the jazz.
Yeah, you could get critical about this movie, but it's not about deep social statements, its about the music. You could say it is a cliche underdog story but so is the history of the great jazz bands! Take it for what it is, and let it take you for a ride, and you'll walk with a bounce when it's over.
