Review of Summer Palace (2006) by Oona B — 05 May 2008
Too much sensations in this film, and all of them are about love, no politics at all. I wonder why it's been banned. I have an impression that what Lou Ye is trying to depict is the young students who didn't have a clear political view at the time were pushed into the movement by a fanatic, political tide.
The very important point of this film is how their lives had been in the 10-year aftermath of the event.
