Review of Sukiyaki Western Django (2007) by Adam V — 09 May 2010
Start to finish one of the best modern Western movies. The cinematics alone would keep me intrigued, but the micromanaged directing by Miike is unreal. Every line uttered is forced through non-English speakers and therefore seems worlds away from written lines.
The color contrast throughout the movie is gorgeous, and the red and white gangs make the distinction even more appealing. Any frame of this movie could make an expensive, framed photo in an art gallery.
This is the best version of Yojimbo that I have ever seen. Takashi Miike is one of the best directors in the world.
