Review of Stormy Weather (1943) by Elissa N — 22 Jan 2007
This movie is a great treasure chest of fantastic music and jazz legends. Is the plot a bit static? Well, yes, but this is a film that is watched for the musical numbers. Fats Waller is on hand to sing "Aint Misbeahavin'", Lena sings title tune, Cab Callaway is here to talkin' jive, and Nicholas Brothers are on hand with the most impressive dance number I have ever seen that will leave you breathless.
The only demerit is that some of the dialouge is racist. But majority of the movie is just great fun.
