Review of Star Trek Beyond (2016) by Frederick F — 04 Oct 2016
It took them three movies to get here, but they got here. A story, brand new, all their own. And what a story it was. This new vision of Star Trek is what Star Trek should have been. What it could have been given the right technology and while I am a huge fan of the old series movies, these fit right in.
Beyond had a theme - like all the movies in the TOS did- and this one was about death and rebirth. It paid an homage to the previous writing, to previous movies, and most importantly, to Leonard Nimoy.
Those acolytes who attend Our Lady of One True Trek can blow it out of their nacelles. Star Trek is something every generation should have access to, it has influenced so much of who we are today socially and technologically. Do not screw this up, canon lawyers, by insisting perfection where none can be achieved. Let someone dream. 5 Stars.
Way to go guys.
