Review of Slow West (2015) by Daniel G — 04 Apr 2015
Dirty, dingy, lived-in Western is not to be found here. Slow West celebrates the hope and beauty that the United States represented to dreamers such as Kodi Smit-McPhee's Jay Cavendish in the late 1800's, post-Civil War.
As Silas, Michael Fassbender leaps off the screen like he was born into the prototypical western hero outlaw role, except Slow West mainly avoids an stereotypes and works hard to elevate historically "weaker" roles into the most interesting parts of the film.
Slow West goes out of its way to demolish Western cliches and deliver powerful performances in a slick, clean, hyper colorful world.
