Review of Slow West (2015) by Barbara C — 14 May 2015
Kodi Smit-McPhee shines. The chemistry between Fassbender and him seems to build though I know it must be purposeful since the story is written for it to build. The film making is so terrific it seems effortless.
It's an immersive experience in that a very small, familiar story becomes an unfamiliar and textured movie. The scenery and the natural elements are characters as much as the actors and the horses.
My only gripe, did people in this era have the insight they were wiping out a native culture? I want to think they did but it felt forced.
