Review of Silkwood (1983) by Drew C — 13 Jun 2007
Mike Nichols skillfully directs this true story of whistle-blower Karen Silkwood and her work at the nuclear plant. As she usually does, Meryl Streep gives a knock out performance as the wild child from Oklahoma forced to discover her voice and determine her own life.
Kurt Russell is surprisingly good as her boyfriend. But it is Cher with her devestating turn as her lesbian best friend who gets exposed who really showed she could act. Sometimes disturbing and always enthralling, Silkwood is a film to be remembered.
