I have read reviews and things people pick apart about the movie, but honestly I loved it. Catfishing does happen in real life and sometimes outcomes work out and sometimes people get hurt, that just happens.

Same with the transphobic joke, it does not make it right, but it is realistically something a mean girl in a high school might say. People can pick apart the story line, but if you think how teenagers behave we shouldn't have to have all movies be perfectly pc because then they just are less like reality.
